Mary Jane McDoodle[2][3] is a main character in 60 Seconds. She is the daughter of Ted and Dolores and Timmy's older sister.

Description[]

Mary Jane Eating an Apple

Mary Jane is a pale, chubby girl with black hair and bangs. If the player runs low on supplies and doesn't give her Water Bottles or Soup Cans, she will run away into the wasteland to become a highway woman and the game will mark her as dead. She can also play the tuba, and it's possible to send her out in the wasteland overnight to practice. Her birthday is a possible event in the game. The player can give her Bug Spray, a MedKit, or a Deck of Cards, the latter being the best option.

Mutation

She can become a mutant if she is bitten by a mutant spider. This can be done by doing nothing about them, using the boy scout book on them, or if a puddle of green goo isn't cleaned with a Boy Scout Handbook, Suitcase or Gas Mask. As a mutant, Mary Jane does not require Water Bottles to survive, but she will require more Soup Cans as a result. She also becomes immune to Sickness, Tiredness, Insanity, and becoming Injured (unless you are playing 60 Seconds! (the original)). The only way she can be injured is by secret agent mission, being hurt beforehand, or being attacked by a crocodile in the noise event with axe and flashlight as choices. If Mary Jane mutates before the family is followed from their expeditions, the bandits will still take control of the area, but will never attack the family as long as she is the only character to ever exit the shelter. Mutation is a feature exclusive to Mary Jane.

Appearance

Mary Jane is a female character with black hair and pale skin. Her hair is styled in a high ponytail, held up with a pink hair tie. She has a white shirt, a navy blue skirt, white socks and brown shoes. It's worth noting that she looks very similar to Ted, whereas Timmy primarily has Dolores's features.

When a mutant, she has purple skin and has rips in her clothes, and her limbs will appear unevenly proportioned in size. She will also have a giant underbite and a hump on her back. In the Reatomized edition of the game her hair grows longer and when mutant Mary Jane’s hair is longer it appears to look like spikes

When insane, she will pose like a chicken and stand on her seat, except from when she's Tired. Her hair will become that of a birds nest even with a hat. Mary Jane's 3D model (appears when scavenging) shows her playing a tuba outside the shelter and she sometimes makes a tuba sound.

Mary Jane's Deaths[]

By Dehydratation:[]

  • When Mary Jane found out she is not getting a single bottle of water, she got furious. She stormed out into the wasteland, shouting over her shoulder that "we'll regret this", and that she's "getting her water one way or another". We're seriously terrified right now. (Mary Jane died)

By Starvation:[]

  • We couldn't spare any food for Mary Jane and, eventually, she reached a boilling point where her stare was enough to kill. She left without a word, but we know she would probably become a highway woman and get all the food cans she would ever need. (Mary Jane died)

By Sickness:[]

  • When Mary Jane's sickness got worse, and when we weren't be able to provide her with medicine, she decided it's time to cure whatever she had by her own. She left a note saying she's not coming back since she never liked our town to begin with. (Mary Jane died)

By Injuries:[]

  • Mary Jane's injuries were enough to make her angry at us, or at least the fact that we decided not to do anything about them. When we got up we found a note from a her claiming that she deserves better, and that she had left for Canada because it has a better public healthcare system. (Mary Jane died)

By Insanity:[]

  • This morning at breakfast, Mary Jane stood up and calmly announced that she's leaving for her weekly tuba lesson. She said she really needs to go, as she really does want to upset her teacher. When we tried to remind her that both her teacher and her tuba are most probably gone, she just shook her head and called us crazy. Heartbroken, we watched her wave us goodbye and leave the bunker. We wish could have helped her somehow... (Mary Jane died)

During an Expedition:[]

  • Mary Jane was supposed to be back in a few days. It's been too long. We fear something bad has happend to her. (Mary Jane died)

Events[]

Mary Jane's Events:[]

Family Ties (Mary Jane):[]

Mary Jane didn't utter a single word today. This is very odd. Maybe someone should find out what's going on with her.

Mary Jane's Event- Family Ties
Yes:[]
  1. Nothing solves problems better than an honest conversation over a hot beverage. We don't have the latter, but talking alone seems to do the trick. +Increase Mary Jane's sanity
  2. (If someone else is crazy) ??? +Mary Jane becomes crazy
No:[]
  1. It's difficult to get through to Mary Jane. That's why we decided to leave her be. +Decreases Mary Jane's sanity
  2. Mary Jane started talking again. She's a strong young lady, she can handle herself. +Increases Mary Jane's sanity
  3. The good news is, Mary Jane sarted moving again. The bad news is, something is wrong with her head. +Mary Jane becomes crazy

Call Of The Tuba:[]

1. Mary Jane insists she doesn't feel complete without her musical instrument. If she hid it well, maybe his tuba is still safe somwhere in the ruins of our house. A reminder of her hobbies and what life used to be might cheer her up a bit and make this situation easier for her. Should we let her out for a quick look around the house?

2. Mary Jane used to be cheerful, but lately she is feeling a bit down. She clearly missed her music lessons - she keep huming her favourite clasic pieces, immitating the sound of tuba. She said would die for a chance to play it again... which may very well happen if we let her out of the shelter. If this would help to bring a smile to her weary face, maybe we would consider letting her out for a short walk around the house above?

Mary Jane's Events- Call Of The Tuba
Yes:[]
  • Mary Jane got really excited when we agreed to let her look for her tuba. She said if she can't find her instrument, she'll settle for anything else she can find, like some sheet music. We sure hope the tuba didn't make it... we're pretty sure we prefer radio static or even the sweet sound of silence. +Increases Mary Jane's sanity +Mary Jane left the shelter for 2 days
No:[]
  • Risking our life for a tuba? Madness. If it was a guitare or at least a trumpet... but a tuba? Playing the tuba won't put some soup on the table! Mary Jane isn't happy, but she needs to realize how pointless the idea was. +Decreases Mary Jane's sanity

Happy Birthday May Jane!:[]

1. We were pretty sure Mary Jane had her birthday two weeks ago, but it turns out - it's today. Shall we get her something a young lady trapped in a tiny shelter would enjoy?

2. Mary Jane has been dropping hints that it's a special day for her today. We had to think about it hard, and after eliminating your average festivities, the anniversary of that great BBQ we had three years ago, and International Popcorn Day, we realized she was talking about her birthday! That means we need to get her a gift.

Mary Jane's Event- Happy Birthday Mary Jane!
Use Deck of Cards:[]
  • Mary Jane loves cards. We thought she might get herself busy with solitaire, but she started doing cards reading. Divination or not, if we don't figure out why the world has gone to hell, maybe she will. +Increases Mary Jane's sanity
Use Bug Spray:[]
  • Kids these days are all about those spray deodorants. The anti-bug spray probably works the same way. Mary Jane was so excited! +Increases Mary Jane's sanity
Use Medkit:[]
  • We figured a toothbrush is something a girl trapped in a bunker needs. Desperately. Mary Jane ecstatic reaction has proven us right. Next year she's getting toothpaste. +Increases Mary Jane's sanity +Cure Mary Jane's sickness
Use Nothing:[]
  • Mary Jane is too old for birthdays. That's what we think +Decreases Mary Jane's sanity

Dear Dairy:[]

(If the Boy Scout Handbook is in the shelter) Wouldn't you know it, our dear Mary Jane keeps a dairy. For some reason, she was hiding it in the scout book we keep in our shelter. We have no doubts what needs to be done right now. Each of us be assigned a role and the dairy must be read aloud. Right?

Mary Jane's Events- Dear Dairy
Say Yes:[]
  • We managed to read the first sentence. Then, there was darkness. And pain. Lots of pain. The dairy is gone. Let's never speak of this again. +Someone gets hurt +Decreases Mary Jane's sanity
Say No:[]
  • Mary Jane thanked us to for respecting her privacy. She then ripped out and tore all of the pages, set them on fire, stomped on them, and fed them to a mutated rat outside. A bit excessive, but we all feel better now that it's been dealt with. We still wonder what she wrote about us, though... +Increases Mary Jane's sanity

You Reap What You Sow:[]

1. We were sure we'd look through our supplies carefully, but Mary Jane spotted something all of us missed. A seed! A plant seed! We should plant it to see what happens, but we need a bottle of water for that. Should we use it?

2. Enjoying the little things in life is important in any situation. So when Mary Jane found some seeds in the shelter, she got really excited. She thinks that with a little luck, and enough water and soil, we might be able to grow our own food. We don't know if these are vegetable seeds, but if they are, planting them might be worth a shot. Shall we use a bottle of water to start our own garden?

3. While Mary Jane was rummaging through our belongings, she found a single plant seed. We have no idea what kind of seed it is, but maybe it's the start of something great? If we're lucky, it might be an apple tree! Or a cherry tree! Or something edible! We need to use a bottle of water to plant it – how about that?

Mary Jane Event - You Reap What You Sow
Say Yes:[]
  • Here goes nothing. Soil, seed, water. We'll see what happens in a few days time. Let's just hope these seeds don't turn into some useless flower. Mary Jane seems optimistic enough. -1 Water
Say No:[]
  • There are a plenty of better way to use our water. Drinking comes to mind. So Mary Jane will have to think of another way to occupy herself. | It seems that Mary Jane took it harder than we thought. She really was emotionally invested into growing that plant. +Decreases Mary Jane's sanity

Fresh Eats!:[]

([Sometimes] If "Yes" was aid on "You Reap What You Sow" event) Plants are usually green... so it shouldn't be to worrying that Mary Jane's plant is a bit glowy. It shines with a healthy, greenish colour! Maybe that means it will bear more fruit? Or vegetables? Or whatever these twisted things hanging from that plant are. Shall we collect them now?

Mary Jane's Event - Fresh Eats!
Say Yes:[]
  • Good call with the plant. We were able to procurefour cans worth of food fom it. The glow seems to give it extra nutritional value. +4 Soup
Say No:[]
  • ???

Little Shelter Of Horrors:[]

([Sometimes] If "Yes" was said on "You Reap What You Sow" event):

1. It's not every day you wake up to a carnivorous plant trying to eat you. This is how our day started. Curse Mary Jane's plant and any gardening ambitions we had! Who would've guessed the seed would grow into a bloodthirsty daemon?! We need to get rid of it!

2. A tickling sensation woke us up. The roars got us out of bed. Turns out Mary Jane's plant is some sort of plant monster! And it's out for blood, brains and whatever it chews on! We need to do something!!!

Mary Jane's Event - Little Shelter Of Horrors
Use Bug Spray:[]
  • Bug spray offense is the best defense! Die you plant-mutant, die! Shhh! That was pretty terrifying. We should probably stick to soup cans instead of growing anything. The climate is definitely not suitable for any serious gardening -Bug Spray
Use Axe:[]
  • Die you plant-thing, die! is this sharp enough for you?! Chop! Chop! Phew, that was a close one. Without this axe we would've been plant food... or would that make us fertilizer? Well the joke is on that damn plant, since we ended up harvesting some of it for food. -Axe +2 Soup
Use Nothing:[]
  1. There was nothing we could use to fight that damned plant! We're lucky it didn't eat us alive, but it did steal some of our food! In what reality does a plant eat a tomato soup can?! Is that even a world worth living in?! -2 Soup
  2. (Without Soup) It didn't eat us, but Ted got bitten! Or maybe he knocked his head on the wall. One way or the other, we'll need a plenty of bandages to sort this out. +Ted gets hurt

Mary Jane's School:[]

Mary Jane is restless... and lonely. She really misses her music lessons and she would love to visit her high school again. It's a little further than Timmy's school, but it could be worth the trip. There could still be some supplies there... or maybe she run into some other kids? It's risky, of course, but it might not be the Worst Idea Ever. So how about it? Should she go on a walk?

Mary Jane's Event- Mary Jane's School
Yes:[]
  • Mary Jane promised to be extra cureful. Hopefully this little trip lifts her spirits. +Mary Jane leaves the shelter for 3 days
No:[]
  • We now have a valid reason to say one of the weirdest things you can ever tell your teenage kids: no, Mary Jane, you will NOT go to school today and that's the end of it, young lady! +Decreases Mary Jane's sanity

Extracurricular activities:[]

(If "Mary Jane's School" event has been done before) Mary Jane didn't find anything noteworthy in terms of supplies... but she did have a look at the school registry and found an adress of her favourite music teacher. She now insists on paying a visit - It's a nice, older gentlman who might be in need of assistance in these though times. It would be a pretty long walk... and obviously not the safest. Should we agree this?

Mary Jane's Event- Extracurricular Activities
Say Yes:[]
  1. (If the Harmonica isn't in the shelter) We started to worry, but Mary Jane found her way back to the shelter. There was no reason to worry about her old teacher - one thing she neglected to tell us is that he is a hardened war vet. He is doing just fine for himself. He was very happy to see Mary Jane alive and even gifted her on of is favourite harmonicas. She tried to play a little song for us, but fell asleep halfway. The trip really exhausted her, but at least her mood has improved. +Harmonica +Mary Jane gets tired +Increases Mary Jane's sanity
  2. (If the Harmonica is in the shelter) We started to worry, but Mary Jane found her way back to the shelter. There was no reason to worry about her old teacher - one thing she neglected to tell us is that he is a hardened war vet. He is doing just fine for himself. He was very happy to see Mary Jane alive and even share some supplies with her. The trip really exhausted her, but at least her mood has improved. +1 Soup + 1 Water +Mary Jane gets tired +Increases Mary Jane's sanity
Say No:[]
  • Her teacher is an adult, surely he can take care of himself. We can't have Mary Jane risking her life for this. Sorry, you're staying inside and that's the end of it. +Decrease Mary Jane's sanity

Mary Jane's Wound:[]

([Sometimes] If Dolores was sent on an expedition without Medkit):

1. Remember that time Mary Jane went out to scavenge supplies? When she got back, she had a wound on her forearm. Nothing serious, she claimed, but it looked like something had bitten her. Now that injury is looking much worse. We fear it may be infected. We have to clean it up.

2. Mary Jane was injured on her last expedition, she didn't mention it to us, and we didn't noticed. It wasn't a problem until just now. It seems her injury got infected and she's in bad shape. We must help her.

Mary Jane's Event- Mary Jane's Wound(Not Complete)
Use Axe:[]
  • Mary Jane got the wrong idea when we brandished the axe, she tried to limp out of the bunker, fortunatelly she was too slow, and we were able to explained her our intentions before she ran off. Heating the axe's blade allowed us to clean the wound and stop it from festering. Now it's up to her immune system to fight off the infection. We had to break our axe to do it, but she's looking better today, so we are hopeful it was worth it. -Axe
    • (Sometimes) Ouch! The axe slipped just a bit, but that must've hurt... +Mary Jane gets hurt
Use Medkit:[]
  • A length of bandage, some pills, a little of this and that, and we were able to patch Mary Jane in no time! We used most of our medkit in the process, but the important thing is, she's going to get better. -Medkit
Use Nothing:[]
  • Mary Jane will be fine. It's not the first time and it won't be the last time she's get sick. She is looking a bit pale today, though... +Mary Jane can get sick

???:[]

(If Mary Jane is Mutant) We risking poking Mary Jane, but there was barely any reaction. Ever since she... transformed, she's just been staring at the wall, smilling insanely. Maybe a gold old-fashioned chat will work. After all, it's not like she's a weird mutant now. Oh wait, she is. The idea still stands, should we chat with her?

Mary Jane's Event - Talk To Mary Jane
Say Yes:[]
  1. We treid to communicate with her, but we just couldn't get on the same page. She seemed quite upset. In the morning she was gone. She left us a note, which read: "Hnfpgh ghhhyyy uuu OoooOOOooo". We hope she's OK. | Mary Jane is gone. We looked everywhere, but she's nowhere to be found. What happend to her?! (Mary Jane died)
  2. It was a bad idea or maybe we started off on the wrong foot. She said something that sounded like "Mary Jane smash!" and strating punching every thing in her path. She calmed down after a while, and has just been standing still. Maybe this is now her way of to show affection. +Someone get hurt
  3. ???
Say No:[]
  1. The silence, and the presence of what looks like a cross between a bear and a giant slug, make us feel a bit uneasy. You might even say we're on the straight road to insanity. +Decrease everyone's sanity
  2. ???

Ted And Mary Jane's Events:[]

To have these events, Ted and Mary Jane must be in the shelter

Movie Characters:[]

Ted and Mary Jane have been butting heads lately. Today they got into an argument about movie characters, specifically, who would win in an ultimate battle - Snow White's seven dwarves or a group of wasteland bandits/Peter Pan or an army of mutated cockroaches/mutated Godzilla or mutated King Kong/Maleficient with an axe or the Wicked Queen with a rifle? It's a tricky one for sure, and the debate is heated. Who will come out on top?

Ted And Mary Jane's Event- Like In The Movies
Choose Mary Jane:[]
  1. Mary Jane objectively won the debate with the sheer volume of her voice. A few hours into the shouting, Ted was begging her to stop, complaining about a nauseating headache. Mary Jane was satisfied. Ted less so. +Increases Mary Jane's sanity +Decreases Ted's sanity
  2. Mary Jane used some small bits and pieces from her pocket to award points for arguments and track the debate's progress. Between the bunch of button, dust bunnies, and some little rocks, we found several rifle bullets! That discovery made Ted and Mary Jane finally drop the topic. +Ammo
Choose Ted:[]
  1. Mary Jane was so confident about her case, she said she would bet a full soup can on it. In the end, Ted's argument were just stronger, and Mary Jane begrudgingly handed him a can. We're not sure whether to be grateful for it, or angry she was hidding it all along. +Soup
  2. Ted covered his ears and loudy sang to himself, drowing out Mary Jane's excellent arguments. She escalated the situation by tossing some objects around, whether for emphasis or in an attempt to visually recreate the battle. No agreement was reached and some supplies have suffured. -RANDOM
Choose Nobody:[]
  1. After hours of wild gestures, loud arguments, emotional rebuttals, and a few pie charts, Ted and Mary Jane finally decided it was impossible to figure out who would win. They shook hands and move on, but it's clear the issue is still bugging them. +Decreases Ted and Mary Jane's sanity
  2. Mary Jane and Ted went head-to-head for hours, exchanging anecdotes and intricate details from the lore of the movies under discussion. What looked like a fight to the entrained eye was actually entertaiment to these two. Geeks! +Increases Ted and Mary Jane's sanity

Soup And Circuses:[]

The beredom and silence are overwhelming. To bad we don't have a TV to keep us occupied... but maybe we could take advantage of some of our supplies and pretend they're props on a movies set?

Ted and Mary Jane's Event - Soup and Circuses(Complete)
Use Suitcase:[]
  1. Ted and Mary Jane were reminded of their regular cinema trips, so they were happy to improvise scene for the rest of us. Ted was Marilyn and Mary Jane was the director, ordering him around. She was really strict about her artist vision, but Ted managed to deliver a performance so convincing, we forgot for a moment that he isn't a lovely, slim, blonde Hollywood star! +Increases Ted and Mary Jane's sanity
  2. The suitcase was supposed to serve as a small podium. Ted and Mary Jane argued about who should stand on the podium and deliver a monologue in their improvised scene. Long story short, both of them stood on the top of the suitcase at the same time. Unfortunate. -Suitcase
Use Axe:[]
  • Ted and Mary Jane used to be big cinema buffs before the apocalypse, so they instantly jumped on this idea. Mary Jane always complained "Singing' in the rain" lacks action, so they took the axe and improvised an extra scene. Very bloody. They insist the movie would have been way better if it had more axes in it. +Increases Ted and Mary Jane's sanity
Use Nothing:[]
  • Ted and Mary Jane seemed let down, but we have more important thing to do than playing theater right now. +Decreases Ted and Mary Jane's sanity

Night Terrors:[]

Last night the whole shelter was woken up by Ted screaming bloody murder. He was terrified, shouting something about tentacled, radioactive mutants on top of his face. Turned out it was just Mary Jane stepping on his head in the dark. Ted took it very personallt and demands medical care.

Ted and Mary Jane's Events- Night Terrors
Use Medkit:[]
  1. Mary Jane helped Ted patch up his injuries. They both look pretty content right now. All's well that ends well, and Ted's face has almost gone back to its usual shape and state by now. +Increases Ted and Mary Jane's sanity
  2. Ted wouldn't allow anyon to pach him up, and spent some time rummaging through our first aid kit for something fitting to dress his self-diagnosed "lethal" injuries. In the end, he took a bunch of pills, covered hiself with a few yards of bandage, and fell asleep. -Medkit +Decreases Ted's sanity
Use Nothing[]
  1. Ted and Mary Jane refused to apologize and move on, and instead went straight into a state of paranoia. He seemed to think Mary Jane had it out for him, while Mary Jane claimed it was Ted's face that hit her foot and not the other way around. Looks like both of them will sleep with one eye open tonight. +Decreases Ted and Mary Jane's sanity
  2. Mary Jane tried to apologized, but Ted wasn't having it. He kept lamenting about broken noses and cracked skulls, stumbling around the shelter and gesturing wildly, until he tripped over something and fell. Oh, hey, a soup can! That discovery calmed Ted right now. +Soup +Ted can gets hurt

Dolores And Mary Jane's Events:[]

Great Expectations:[]

Yesterday during charades we learned that May Jane doesn't know how to spell "antidisestablishmentarianism" an it has left Dolores sorely disappointed. She insist on home... or rather shelter-schooling Mary Jane a little.

Dolores And Mary Jane's Events- Great Expectations
Say Yes:[]
  • Dolores does not mess around - what started out as a spelling exercise has quickly found its way to a math revision, followed by a short physics course and ending on tinkering with some random objects in the shelter. Mary Jane looks exhausted, but we can't deny the state of our shelter has improved today. +Increases Dolores and Mary Jane's sanity +Can repair a broken item in the shelter(Exept the Radio) +Mary Jane gets tired
Say No:[]
  • Mary Jane made a real scene, complaining that Dolores would never be happy, even if both of her children became president, won Nobel prizes and simultaneous became the first people on the moon. Dolores begs to differ - she says she would be at least a little content in this scenario. +Decreases Dolores and Mary Jane's sanity

Bad Boy:[]

(If Mary Jane was sent on an expedition) Mary Jane has been caught sneaking out under the cover of night. Dolores was furious when Mary Jane revealed she was going to go on a date with some... bandit boy! She meet him during an expedition. Mary Jane asked for a chance to contact her date via written note to apologize for not showing up. Should she be allowed to do that?

Dolores And Mary Jane's Events- Bad Boy
Yes:[]
  1. After hours of tears, begging, pleading and some more tears, Dolores caved. Mary Jane wrote a note to the bandit boy, draw some hearts with tomato soup, and left to drop it off. She came back very angry and disappointed - apparently the boy was eaten by a mutant racoon while waiting for her the other night. Mary Jane said it was for the best. He was clearly better racoon fooder than boyfreind material. +Increases Mary Jane's sanity
  2. Dolores agreed that an apology note would be polite in these circumstances. Mary Jane wrote one and drop it off, but came back red-faced and furious. She saw the bandit boy outside, holding hands with some... bandit girl! Mary Jane was so hurt even Dolores took her side +Mary Jane gets hurt
No:[]
  1. The girls got into a big argument over who might be appropriate for Mary Jane, but unfortunately for the latter, rebellious bandit boys with leather jackets and unruly, unwashed hair were not on that list. Dolores and Mary Jane are not speaking right now, which is a definite improvement over the shouting match that took place earlier.
  2. Mary Jane begged and pleaded, and Dolores just fumed. What if the boy knew where they live? What if he were to bring his slightly more adult and dangerous freind around? What if it was a trap? You have endangered this shelter and brought shame on your family, Mary Jane! Shame, shame, shame! +Decreases Mary Jane's sanity

Timmy And Mary Jane's Events:[]

To have these events, Timmy and Mary Jane must be in the shelter

Tag, you're it:[]

Timmy and Mary Jane are in need of some phisical exercise. Letting them run outside in the wasteland seems a bit too adventurous, but they could play tag inside the shelter. It's not like we have any expensive vases or antique dishes down here to be broken. Should we let the kids play?

Timmy's Event- Tag
Yes:[]
  1. The kids were ecstastic! Whatching them play was a real treat, they looked so happy. When Mary Jane pushed Timmy around, he fell face first on an unopened soup can that was hidding in the corner of the shelter behind some empty bottles! What a lucky day for us. And we're sure Timmy's face will be just fine.+1 Soup +Increases Mary Jane and Timmy's sanity
  2. As soon as they got permission, Timmy and Mary Jane immediately started running around, laughing. Or at least spinning around, since there's not much space in this tiny shelter. During thei playtime, they noticed a single bottle of water tucked in the corner behind some empty cans. Lucky find! +1 Water +Increases Mary Jane's and Timmy's sanity
  3. We should have seen it coming - Mary Jane and Timmy ran around way too fast and before we could stop them, they crashed into each other and fell to the ground, causing our supplies to fly in every direction. And they don't look guilty at all! They seems... more cheerful. Good for them, but now someone has to clean up this mess... +Increases Mary Jane and Timmy's sanity +Someone can get hurt/-RANDOM
  4. Once again we have proven to be irresponsible parents. Letting children run around in such small spaces cannot end well. We're not sure who pushed who, and what exactly caused it, but the kids managed to shove some items off the shelf... truth be told, the kids seems a bit happier so maybe it's not the end of the world. Wait... it actually is... -RANDOM +Increase Mary Jane and Timmy's sanity

  • Playing tag? What a ridiculous idea! This is the apocalypse! It's a cruel world, your every step is a matter of life or death, this is neither the time, not the place for sily games! How about playing something useful, like "Hunt the roach". +Decrease Mary Jane and Timmy's sanity

Boogers:[]

Mary Jane is pulling Timmy's hair and calling him a "radioactive poopy butt" while Timmy is furiously kicking her shins, insisting she is a "mutant booger". Madness! Nobody knows what set this fight off, but one of the kids must be in the right... right? But, which one?

Mary Jane and Timmy's Event- Boogers
Choose Timmy:[]
  1. Mary Jane is older, and should know better. She was pacified, althought not without a fight. Guilt-ridden Timmy admited they fought because he stole his sister's harmonica. He returned it, and things are quiet once again. For now. +Harmonica
  2. Mary Jane was deemed a bigger threat, especially when she whipped out an axe and started chasing Timmy around the table. Where did she get that?! The weapon was confiscated. And, you are grounded, young lady! At least until the next expedition. +Axe
  3. Turns out they were fighting over a spare can of soup! Despicable. Both of them are apologetic now, and claimed they would have shared it with everyone eventually, but why should they be believed? The can was confiscated. +1 Soup
  4. Before anyone could jump in, the kids suddently made up, and everything ended as fast as it began. Nobody rememberes what caused the fight in the first place.
Choose Mary Jane:[]
  1. When confrontated, Timmy started shrieking like a banshee. Surprised, Mary Jane started wailing as well. Suddenly, everyone was screaming, and both children were bawling. Now, hours later, everyone's ears are still ringing, but we feel way calmer than before. +Increases everyone's sanity
  2. As a proud scout, Timmy should set a better example with his behaviour. He was swiftly reprimanded while Mary Jane giggled. Timmy went red-faced in the corner, but Mary Jane's mood brightened. Truth be told, we do prefer to stay on her good side. +Decreases Timmy's sanity +Increases Mary Jane's sanity
  3. Turns out they were fighting over a spare can of soup! Despicable. Both of them are apologetic now, and claimed they would have shared it with everyone eventually, but why should they be believed? The can was confiscated. +1 Soup

Kids Starvation (Unofficial Name):[]

(If the food supplies becomes low) We were down to just a few scrap of food this morning. Timmy and Mary Jane were really hungry, and started fighting over in what remained in one of the soup cans. We were debating whether to intervene. Or just let kids be kids. Besides Mary Jane looks really hungry, we're not sure if it's a good idea to stand between her and her food. Should we intervene?

(The Items To Choose Are Random In This Event) The children are restless today. They whisper things to each other while pointing at our resources. It looks like they need some new items for the game they're playing. What can we give them?

Mary Jane Mutation Events:[]

Plumbing Action:[]

1. Whoever designed this fallout shelter was a genius, but we can't really tell if that green stuff dipping from the pipe is an inclued feature. We should probably try doing something about it with whatever we brought down here.

2. Where did that green puddle come from? Oh dear, a pipe is leaking green goo! That's not good. That's not good at all. We need to act now and no one packed a mop! What do we do?!

Mary Jane Mutation Events- Plumbing Action
Use Suitcase:[]
  • We grab our old suitcase and shoved it under the pipe. Seems that all the liquid that was stopped to leak out, did so during the night. On the bright side, we don't have to worry about the smell making us sick anymore. The downside? Our suitcase is completely ruined. -Suitcase
Use Gas Mask:[]
  • Ha, problem solved! No leak, no mess! Back to our tidy little shelter.
Use Boy Scout Handbook:[]
  • Ha, problem solved! No leak, no mess! Back to our tidy, little shelter.
Use Nothing:[]
  • We couldn't figure out so we just assumed that's what a regular pipe would do in the event of a nuclear apocalypse and we decided to ignore it. We've been feeling a bit funny today, though. Probably no connection to the pipe. None whatsoever. +Someone can get sick
    • (Sometimes) WHAT THE HELL!? Mary Jane went to bed her normal self, and now she's all... mutated! Oh, Mary Jane, what happend to you?! +Mary Jane mutated

Spidermen:[]

1. We're either going crazy or this entire shelter is crawling with little insects... or worse. It's worse! They're spiders! And not some miniature ones, but huge, furry and very creepy beasts! We've got something to do about them!

2. This is insane! We keep finding spiders everywhere. They're in our soup. They're in our water. We swear some of them keep coming back, and they are bigger every time we see them! It can't go on like this. It's time to wage war on these spiders!

3. Spiders seem to be operating under the assumption that they have all the rights in this shelter as we do. They're everywhere and don't seem very scared of us. It's time we changed that. We don't want anymore spiders in our soup, no sir!

Bug Spray ; Boy Scout Handbook ; Medkit Event - Spidermen
Use Bug Spray:[]
  1. If there is one thing that can drive spiders away, and stop us climbing up the furniture, it's the bug killing spray. This was the right time to unleash this deadly weapon and the results were exellent. We eradicated 404 of those little bastards. We even found a water bottle stashed in the corner. It was a good day! +1 Water -Bug Spray
  2. When it's us or them, there shouldn't be any reservation when it comes to choosing your arsenal. We knew those spiders stood no chance against well aimed bug killing spray. So we used it. When it was over, the few remaining spiders fled. We started cleaning up and claimed an unexpected prize - a soup can that we didn't noticed before. It was well hidden in the shadows and under a few layers of dead spiders. +1 Soup -Bug Spray
Use Boy Scout Handbook:[]
  1. A good book is the solution to any problem you encounter. This inclues marauding spiders. A few precise hits and suddenly every spider is aware of what the word "decimation" means. We also found a misplaced soup can while hunting those pesky spiders. That was a bountiful hunt. +1 Soup
    • (Sometimes) During our vicious fight with dozen of spiders, one got lucky and bit Mary Jane. It didn't seems serious, but when we got up this morning... she was different +Mary Jane Mutated
  2. We always knew books were precious. They are the perfect weapon for waging total war on insectoids of any kind! Fear will keep the locale spiders in line. Fear of this Scout Handbook. While chasing them around the shelter, we found a misplaced water bottle. That was a good +1 Water
    • (Sometimes) During our vicious fight with dozen of spiders, one got lucky and bit Mary Jane. It didn't seems serious, but when we got up this morning... she was different +Mary Jane Mutated
Use Medkit:[]
  • Maybe there are no spiders and it's all just an hallucination? A few pills might help. Guess what? They did! No more spiders! Problem gone!
Use Nothing:[]
  1. We decided we could get rid of those spiders with our bare hands, feet and whatever other body parts we could use for lethal anti-spider attacks. Unfortunately, we've underestimated their chances. They're really fast. All we can achieved was getting tired. Maybe we'll have some more luck next time. +Some characters can get tired
    • (Sometimes) During our vicious fight with dozen of spiders, one got lucky and bit Mary Jane. It didn't seems serious, but when we got up this morning... she was different +Mary Jane mutated
  2. (If Sharikov is in the shelter) While we were asleep, Sharikov made a short work of these pesky spiders. It chased them around until all of them ran away through cracks in the shelter walls. Let's hope stay gone for a good.

Animal Communication:[]

(If mutant roaches are in the shelter):

1. Call us weird, but we think those roaches are trying to communicate with us. Is it possible they are now our intellectual equals? Maybe we could turn them into a cheap labour force to support our survival effot? Once a capitalist, always a capitalist!

2. We've never felt weird, but today we had to revisit the term. It seems that our little green pets... guests... are trying to communicated with us. One was even holding something that resembled a sign, wich reads "Ue kam in peas". What on Earth do they mean?!

Mary Jane Mutation Event - Animal Communication(Complete))
Use Boy Scout Handbook:[]
  • We communicated with their leader in the one language we're sure roaches understand - violence.
Use Bug Spray:[]
  • We communicated with their leader in the one language we're sure roaches understand - violence. -Bug Spray
Use Nothing:[]
  • This is insane, why would we talked to roaches? Are we going insane? Are we?! +Decreases everyone's sanity
    • (Sometimes) WHAT THE HELL!? Mary Jane went to bed her normal self, and now she's all... mutated! Oh, Mary Jane, what happend to you?! +Mary Jane mutated

Trivia[]

  • When insane, she can destroy or eat the Axe, the Radio, a Can of Soup and the Flashlight, claiming the batteries from the Flashlight/Radio will give her 'energy'
  • She is the character that has the least resistance to insanity. It is possible that it's because there are too many events that heavily damage her sanity.
  • Even if Mary Jane was in the shelter with other one member, that member has a chance to get Insanity, because she is not a very social character. This may be why she spends most of her time playing her instrument (which her family members don't think is very professional since they hoped she couldn't find the tuba when the event comes up).
  • She is one of 3 characters that can really age in the game, the others being Timmy and Ted. Aging is shown by Timmy and Mary Jane both having birthdays, and Ted growing a beard. This has changed in the Reatomized version, though, because in this version, Dolores has hair that grows too.
  • Sometimes in the journal, a drawing of her playing a saxophone is seen, even though she plays the tuba. (The most frequent time this drawing can appear is in the Thunderdome events).
  • Her name is another word for marijuana due to similar abbreviations.
  • Mary Jane will often ask for soup after an expedition.
  • According to a sanity/birthday event, Mary Jane hates checkers, and this event may destroy the checkers if used.
  • If Mary Jane is not rescued during the initial scavenging part, sad tuba noises can be heard as Ted/Dolores jumps into the shelter when the time runs out.
  • Mary Jane grows her hair in The ReAtomized Version. It becomes longer and messy.
  • Insane Mary Jane will do the chicken pose.

Mutant Mary Jane Facts

  • She is the only character that can turn into a mutant.
    • In a balance update, the chance for Mary Jane to become a mutant was decreased.
  • Mary Jane in mutant form resembles the popular Troll Face meme, however, the creators have said that the similarities were unintentional. [4]
  • When Mary Jane becomes mutant and she is starved for an extended period of time, there is a chance that she will actually eat one of the family members.
  • There is an event that gives you the option to talk to Mutant Mary Jane. If you do, she could run away, injure most (if not all) family members, or the family discovers she is the same as always and nothing happens.
  • She becomes the most useful character when she is a mutant because she cannot be killed or kidnapped by the raiders or bandits during scavenging, as she always returns safely. She can also drive away attacking bandits. She also becomes immune to most status effects, and does not need water.
  • In the original 60 Seconds!, it is possible for Mutant Mary Jane to die by starvation after completing an expedition if you send her out to answer the phone or to go outside for an event even if she has the 'hungry' status effect.
  • You must feed Mutant Mary Jane after an expedition or she will leave.
  • Mutant Mary Jane will get injured if you send her to the Agents field trip, but the injures won't make any effect on her.

References[]

  • There's a rare event which happens if Mary Jane is not rescued while scavenging: Mary Jane comes to the fallout shelter, claiming that she hid inside a broken refrigerator to survive the nuke blast. This is a reference to Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull where Indiana Jones hid inside a refrigerator to survive the explosion of a nuclear test, it may also be a reference to “Billy the Kid” from Fallout 4.
  • In Spider-Man, he has a girlfriend named Mary Jane. It is possible that Mary Jane's spider mutation is a Spider-Man reference, since Mary Jane mutates by being bitten by a radioactive spider. (Update: The developers confirmed to someone that it wasn't the case or at least it wasn't intentional)
