Tomato Soup is the main source of food for the family and also the crew. Tomato soup comes in a large can, and when family members (or crew members) are fed, they each consume one-fourth of a can (or a whole can in 60 Parsecs!).
During Scavenge Mode, cans of soup are most likely to be found in the kitchen, along with the cabinet halfway down the main hallway.
If a family member goes without soup for 10 days, he or she will die of starvation. However, if a character becomes hungry and days of feeding are missed, the character will remain hungry even after being fed, and the countdown to death of starvation becomes difficult to predict. Once fully fed, they can become hungry six days after eating, or if hungry, they can even die three days after eating. The best solution is to continue to feed the character until they cease being hungry.
If the final hunger warning is ignored, the family member will become sick, and they can die up to five days later after missed feedings. If Ted or Dolores are alone in the shelter, he or she may even die up to a week after becoming sick.
Expeditions make the characters hungrier; they will require feeding almost twice as fast as a character inside the shelter. This extends to the first day after the character returns; one may get the first warning on the day of their return, feed the character, and then get the final starvation warning the next day. This is also a reason why characters may come back sick from expeditions well after the fallout has gone.
Soup cans can be destroyed by all insane family members. When Insane, Ted feeds a Soup can to cockroaches, Dolores gorges down a Soup can, Mary Jane dumps a Soup can into the trash, and Timmy blames the family for starving him on purpose.
Trivia[]
- In 60 Seconds! Reatomized, when you have no soup at all, the message "There isn't enough food to go around. Even Ted has nothing to eat." shows up.
- Also in 60 Seconds! Reatomized, during the loading screen you can see an image of a can of soup and some tomatoes. There is a description which says that soup "can be stored for up to 737 years". This is likely a joke on the durability of canned food.
